Kauri Kids Otara, the suburb’s new early childhood centre, officially opened its doors for learning and discovery on 9th November 2011.
Although the centre has been operating for the past two months, the ceremony celebrated its official opening with ribbon cutting, tree planting and performances by children.
Kauri Kids is located inside the Otara Leisure Centre, and is the latest of council-owned ECE centres operated by Manukau Leisure.
It was established because of the high demand for quality ECE centres in the region.
Manukau Leisure manager, Caroline Newton, is grateful for the support and contributions.
“There’s a real need for greater early childhood education in this community and we’re pleased to be able to play our small part in delivering that important service,” she says.
Kauri Kids endorse a philosophy of learning through fun and offer a curriculum that includes structured learning and play.
The new centre caters for up to 33 children and provides 20 free hours for three to five-year-olds.
