Young Enterprise innovation in homeware store
Young Enterprise Scheme students from St Cuthbert’s College in Auckland have developed a reusable snap and roll lunch bag that is stylish, eco-friendly and BPA free.
The bag is space saving, with a snap band down the spine allowing it to roll down when empty, washable, and can be used time and time again.
The girls came up with this innovation as they simulated their own business as part of the Scheme.
As a result they were invited to compete in the Auckland Regional Presentation Final where they placed third and won the prize for the best business card design.
As well as selling over 150 bags at their school alone, they also had them stocked in the home ware store ‘Redcurrent’ and sold them outside several primary schools and at the Takapuna Sunday markets.
Each girl had their own role within the team and worked hard throughout the year balancing a busy school life with the hectic Young Enterprise commitment to successfully market and sell their product, learning valuable life lessons along the way.
