Kids to paint ‘Life in Forest’

NZ’s next generation of eco-warriors is encouraged by Bayer and the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) to enter the 20th International Children’s Painting Competition on the environment.

The competition is open to entrants aged 6-14, who are encouraged to paint an A3 or A4 sized picture to theme of biodiversity and ‘Life in the Forest’.

Children entering the competition have the chance to win US$2000 and a fully paid trip to attend the Tunza International Children’s Conference in Canada this June.

Bayer spokesperson, William Malpass, says, “I encourage NZ children to enter this competition and help showcase our unique forest environment to the world. We’re hoping for the first international winner from New Zealand in 2011.”

Results will be announced at an award ceremony in mid 2011 with winning entries later exhibited at different locations around the world. Last year’s winning entries can be viewed at the official Bayer and UNEP website: www.unep.bayer.com.
