Endeavour scholarship programme pays off

All smiles: Proud Endeavour Scholars

Together with King’s School and King’s College, St Cuthbert’s College held a celebration of their highly successful joint Endeavour Scholarship programme last week.

The Endeavour Scholarship programme was established in 2001 and is specifically designed for students of Maori and Pasifika descent.

It is the biggest scheme of its kind and provides educational funding to students from Year 7 to Year 13 to enable them to develop their full potential.

All students go forward to tertiary education, often winning scholarships due to their outstanding achievements in academic, sporting and other areas while at college.

Nearly 30 St Cuthbert’s girls and a dozen boys from King’s College attended the celebrations together with their proud parents.

The guest speaker was Dr Tracey McIntosh, Sociology Department Head at the University of Auckland, and herself of Maori descent. She spoke about the vital role that education has in changing people’s lives and the importance of giving back to the community.
