Kids learn about sustainable energy

From term one 2011, school children across Auckland will have the opportunity to learn about environmentally responsible energy with the launch of Vector’s ‘Be Sustainable with Energy’ schools programme.

The new learning programme is available free-of-charge to all primary schools in the Auckland region and bookings for next year are now open.

“Our programme ‘Be Sustainable with Energy’ is about turning an important and complex subject into a fun, stimulating and interactive learning experience for children,” says Vector CEO, Simon Mackenzie.

“By learning about responsible energy consumption and the need to care for our environment, we are helping to equip our younger generations with the tools they need to influence positive change,” says Mr Mackenzie.

With a focus on interactive learning, ‘Be Sustainable with Energy’ explains the different forms of energy, how to use energy efficiently and how saving energy can help the environment. The programme is linked to the NZ Curriculum.

Each session takes around one hour and teachers and students can check out the Stay Safe around Electricity and ‘Be Sustainable with Energy’ website at www.vectorsafety.co.nz

Alternatively, your school can book online at www.vector.co.nz/book-my-school.
