Help kiwi kids this christmas
New Zealanders are urged to shop for Variety-branded Christmas cards and wrapping paper at The Warehouse during the festive season and help Kiwi kids reach their dreams.
Funds raised will support Variety’s Gold Heart Scholarship programme, which is designed to help talented NZ children, who face serious personal challenges achieve their lifelong dreams in the areas of sport, education, music and the arts.
“The Warehouse generously provides us with a donation for each pack of cards and wrapping paper sold. In the current environment, many children and their families are still struggling financially, and this promotion will assist us to help them reach their full potential,” said Lorraine Taylor, CEO of Variety – The Children’s Charity.
There are 16 card designs featuring traditional and contemporary imagery, which are competitively priced at five dollars for a pack of ten cards and envelopes. The wrapping paper comes in five different designs and costs $9.99. Both will be available in all 88 Warehouse stores nationwide.
“The Variety Christmas cards are an integral part of our extensive Christmas range and we are proud to support Variety in providing assistance to NZ children in need from communities where our customers live,” said Jenni Ryan, general manager marketing for The Warehouse.
The Variety Gold Heart Scholarship programme makes available to each recipient a maximum of $5,000 per year for up to three years. This may include assisting with tuition fees, personal development, coaching, purchase of training equipment, travel or accommodation. Leading professionals and celebrities are also matched with the recipients to mentor them in their chosen pursuits.
Variety is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary in NZ. Since 1989, it has distributed over $11.7 million in grants to help Kiwi kids reach their full potential.
Applications for the 2011 Variety Gold Heart Scholarship Fund will open later this year. For more information, please visit www.variety.org.nz.
