Education consultancy wins export award

Education consultancy Cognition Education won the Consultants & Services Exporter of the Year Award at the Auckland Export Awards earlier this month.
Cognition has grown from a supplier of support services to NZ schools (called Multiserve) to a multimillion-dollar enterprise exporting NZ educational values and systems throughout Asia, the Middle East and beyond.
It is now a preferred supplier to governments focusing on education reform, particularly in the Gulf States.
“This is a significant achievement and we are very proud of what we have accomplished,” says Cognition chief executive, Dr John Langley.
“It is very unusual for an education service provider to win an award for export and this is testament to all the hard work done by staff over the years.”
Factors that most impressed the judges were the enthusiasm and sense of commitment of the Cognition team, and the focus on core priorities. Business growth is based on careful planning, rigorous market research and risk management.
Cognition has around 400 staff, has recently opened a regional office in Abu Dhabi, and is actively exploring new and promising markets in North Africa and South East Asia.
Annual export earnings have grown from $10 million in 2007 to more than $60 million last year.
