Congratulations to the newly SunSmart accredited schools in Term two. This is the result of great work done to incorporate Sunsmart practices into their school environment, policy and curriculum.

Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Rangiawhia, at Whatuwhiwhi in Northland, were the first Kura to be SunSmart accredited in Northland. 
They became accredited during Term one and received the accreditation taonga; a certificate, a UV index board, sunsmart curriculum activity cards to give some practical lesson ideas for the classroom, and an outdoor gate sign.
The children were delighted when told that the gate sign had been especially developed in te reo Maori for kura and that theirs was the first kura in Te Tai Tokerau to achieve accreditation and to receive a sign in te reo.
