Improvements to first aid training and health assessments resulting in a healthier, more productive workforce have won Hamilton-based Life Care Consultants a 2010 Vero Excellence in Business Support Award.

Traditionally the two major barriers to the first aid training have been staff down time and the irrelevance of course content but after intensive industry research Life Care changed its programmes and the way it delivers them.

This has had a direct impact on its client company’s bottom lines, as well as improving awareness of health and safety issues in the workplace and in the wider community. The BDO Education Provider Award was presented to Life Care Consultants for excellent business support in delivering its first aid programmes.

The Prime Minister John Key was on hand to congratulate the winners on the night, 20th May. He was guest of honour at the Vero Excellence in Business Support Awards’ gala dinner at the Auckland Town Hall, joining more than 500 business leaders who celebrated the finalists and winners of the 10 award categories vying for the Vero Supreme Award.

The Vero Excellence in Business Support Awards, now in their sixth year, recognise excellence in the field of business support. Established by Bizzone, they are supported by foundation sponsor Vero, BDO and Management magazine. Previous supreme award winners include MYOB and The National Bank.
