Host a Tea Party
Save the Children is calling on all NZers to get together and host a Tea Party during Save the Children Week, held 28th September to 4th October.
Raising money from every cup of tea poured means that more can be done through the development programmes in NZ and around the world.
“This campaign is about taking simple actions in our everyday lives that can make a big difference for others,” says Phil Abraham, acting executive director of Save the Children NZ.
“NZers love to come together and ‘have a cuppa’. Hosting a Tea Party is a great way to get together with friends and family and fund-raise for a worthy cause.
“An estimated 9.2 million children die before the age of five each year – that’s almost one child every three seconds.
“In the world’s poorest countries, children die from easily preventable and treatable diseases like pneumonia, diarrhoea, malaria and measles.
“NZers that host Tea Parties will be helping us fund our programmes around the world that will help to change these shocking statistics.”
To become a Tea Party host just visit www.teaparty.co.nz to sign up, or nominate a friend to be a host instead.
Everyone who signs up to host a Tea Party will receive a free party pack with some helpful supplies from Twinings and Chelsea Sugar to get them started.
The website also has ideas and inspirations to make the Tea Party an extra special event.
