• Two interactive seminars, focused on Reading Interventions for struggling readers (one day each).

• Reading Intervention Programme – Two-day training course.

These courses are suitable for Learning Support Teachers, SLT’s, RTLB’s, RTLits, SPELD Tutors, and all teachers who wish to further their knowledge in dyslexia and research-based reading instruction.
 

Dr Jean Schedler – Educational Consultant from Maryland, USA

Dr Schedler has been a classroom teacher and is an experienced reading specialist. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners  and Educators and is a regular presenter at the annual conferences of the International Dyslexia Association. Dr. Schedler was the keynote speaker at the SPELD Conference in 2008.

LINKING PHONOLOGICAL AWARENESS TO BEGINNING READING – One day

What a teacher needs to know about Phonological processing skills and their impact on reading development. This is an interactive workshop with practical teaching suggestions and making your own teaching materials.

DYSLEXIA AND READING – INSTRUCTIONAL IMPLICATIONS – One day

Overview of the five components of a Research Based Reading Programme. Bringing together what we know about dyslexia and what we know about reading. Practical teaching suggestions will be given.

READING INTERVENTION PROGRAMME – Two day Training Course (Sonday System)

This Reading Intervention programme is an Orton-Gillingham based, Multisensory Language Instruction Programme, for Reading, Writing & Spelling. This is the first training course in NZ of this programme. This is “hands-on” training on how to implement a Research Based Reading Programme. (Sonday System).

There will be opportunity to purchase the Sonday Intervention Materials/Kit
at an introductory price.

Limited to 20 delegates per course  (9.00am-4.00pm)

Auckland Tuesday 31st March and Wednesday 1st April
