Qatar Foundation to celebrate combined achievement of graduates with Senior Convocation Ceremony
- Second joint convocation marks progression of Qatar’s education vision
- Students contemplate bright future as Education City graduates
- Education seen as key to intellectual capital
DOHA – The second Education City Senior Convocation took place on 5th May, 2009, in a ceremony that signals once more Qatar’s emergence as a hub for world-class education.
Under the patronage of His Highness The Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al Missned, chairperson of Qatar Foundation, the ceremony was to honour the graduates whose dedication is contributing to the development of Qatar as a thriving intellectual capital.
Dr Fathy Saoud, president of Qatar Foundation, said: The Education City project has brought first-class teaching to Qatar, making it possible for young generations to reach their full potential. We are proud to have campuses of six leading teaching and research universities at Education City. Our objective in Qatar Foundation is to bring new standards of excellence into education to create a rich and vibrant learning environment.”
Dr Abdullah Bin Ali Al-Thani, vice president-education for Qatar Foundation, said: “The upcoming convocation is another milestone in our educational vision. Our goal in Qatar is to create future leaders by stimulating the bright minds of our young people. Qatar Foundation is helping to develop a knowledge-driven society through education. I have no doubt that the future is in safe hands with our talented young graduates.”
Almost 200 students will graduate from the Education City universities this year.
The graduating students can expect to go on to forge successful careers in their chosen fields with their world-class educational grounding.
The students will also benefit from the opportunities available at the Qatar Science and Technology Park, (QSTP) which celebrated its official inauguration in March.
