Te Papa visitors get close to Monet with Hewlett-Packard

Hewlett-Packard (HP) has helped to give children a new perspective on Monet, by producing a 5x5 metre print of a Monet painting for Te Papa.

The museum is using a strip of the print for its education programme, where kids can get close to the painting to look at the colours and the brush strokes and learn about Claude Monet’s painting techniques and impressionism.

The reproduction currently hangs in the museum’s foyer as part of the Monet and the Impressionists exhibition, which runs until 17th May, 2009.

The high quality and colour accuracy of this large-scale reproduction offers visitors a new appreciation of this painting. And while a traditional Monet painting would sport a strict “do not touch” warning, children can get up close to the detail in the HP print to learn about Claude Monet’s painting techniques as part of Te Papa’s education programme.
