Call for applications
Fulbright NZ and Creative NZ invite applications for the 2009 Fulbright-Creative NZ Pacific Writer’s Residency, an award which offers a NZ writer of Pacific heritage the opportunity to work for three months on a creative writing project exploring Pacific identity, culture or history at the University of Hawaii.
Valued at NZ$30,000, the residency includes return air fares to Hawaii, accommodation costs and an artist stipend.
It is open to writers across all genres, including fiction and non-fiction authors, playwrights, poets and screen writers.
Previous recipients have included filmmaker Sima Urale, performance poet Tusiata Avia, playwright Victor Rodger and children’s author Sarona Aiono-Iosefa.
The three month residency is available from mid-August to mid-November 2009.
The closing date for applications to Creative NZ is Monday 6th April, 2009.
