Call for applications – Travel and Senior Specialist Awards

Fulbright NZ invites applications for its first round of awards for 2009.

The following two award programmes fund short-term exchanges between NZ and the US:

Fulbright NZ Travel Awards

These awards are for NZ academics, artists or professionals to visit the US for 12 to 90 days in order to present papers at conferences, deliver lectures, collaborate with American colleagues or visit relevant institutions.

Eight to 12 awards valued at up to NZ$5,000 are offered each year. Recently-funded projects include visits to the US by art gallery curators, glass artists and academic experts on topics including settler-indigenous relations, migratory and endangered birds, and visual heritage.

Fulbright Senior Specialist Awards

These awards are for NZ academic institutions to host US academics, artists or professionals for two to six week programmes of lectures, seminars, workshops, conferences or symposiums.

Approximately six awards valued at up to NZ$8,400 (plus travel expenses) are offered each year.

Recent recipients include Victoria University of Wellington, who are employing the expertise of Dr Toni Shippenberg from the US Government’s National Institute on Drug Abuse to assist with establishing a new Centre for Addiction Research.
