Harold the Giraffe to deliver positive messages
Harold the Giraffe – the much loved mascot of NZ’s Life Education Trust – will soon be starring alongside international stars such as SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer on Nickelodeon (SKY Channel 41) throughout the country.
The loveable giraffe features as part of a four month Nickelodeon pro-social campaign launched this month to promote the key philosophies of the Life Education Trust to Kiwi kids outside of the usual school environment.
Screening the Trust’s messages on-air to children via Nickelodeon produced vignettes, the broadcaster is donating airtime to keep the messages front of mind and topical for Kiwi kids around the country.
The on-air spots incorporate the three philosophies of the Life Education Trust:
1. You are unique – ensuring each child is comfortable with their identity and accepts difference as a positive factor in life.
2. The human body is magnificent – showing kids how the body works and why we need to protect our internal and external environments.
3. We need to support and respect each other – regardless of sex, race, religion or beliefs, we all have feelings and deserve support and respect.
The Life Education Trust is a charitable trust that delivers an interactive health programme to Kiwi children in preschool, primary and intermediate schools as part of the curriculum.
The Trust goes into schools by invitation and sees over 221,000 NZ children a year.
