Maori language resource celebrated again

Award-winning interactive writing tool Te Tuhi a-Hiko helps motivate and support students to learn and practice writing in te reo Maori.

It’s the first interactive writing tool designed specifically for students learning te reo Maori and has just won bronze in the prestigious 2008 BeST Design Awards.

Developed by Wellington’s Boost New Media for Learning Media Ltd, Te Tuhi a-Hiko was designed from the start for a Maori audience. Boost consulted widely with their client’s Maori team to make sure Te Tuhi a-Hiko stayed a Maori resource in a Maori context.

Nathan Donaldson, owner of Boost New Media says that the BeST Design Awards are a key industry recognition of high achievement in design and he is proud to have Te Tuhi a-Hiko recognised. Especially when the resource is helping enhance students’ writing in te reo.

The winners of the 2008 BeST Design Awards were announced on Friday 10th October at a ceremony in Auckland.
